Astir palace paros11/20/2023 ![]() Breakfast was terrible, and exactly the same every day. We got there in over 15 mins and we were practically jogging. Nothing but “ it’s a 5 min walk that way”. Similar story when we asked about the local bus and where the bus stop was. Unless you ask every single question, you don’t receive any information. Ie there are no footpaths on the road, and you risk getting hit by cars speeding. misleading) and never were we told about any details to get somewhere. ![]() When we asked reception about walking distances to Naousa town or nearby beaches, time distances were completely understated (very different to what was stated on the booking site. Clearly our swimming costumes need to dry somewhere! If the hotel doesn’t want the look of clothes seen on balconies, then add a privacy wall to the ground floor rooms (the balconies were all open). What ever happened to a discrete note to let guests know this is the case, instead of being told off. In addition to me being told off in person at Reception, they were also calling my friend in the room (who was sleeping with a migraine). After 5 minutes of arriving to our hotel we were told off for putting a few items of clothes on our balcony to dry. There was no couch to sit on and the TV was like a computer screen. Extremely basic, very dated, had mismatched decor, and were tiny in size. ![]() But completely overpriced for what you got. We were never offered a simple glass of water on arrival and there was not even a complementary bottle of water provided in the rooms (especially given you can’t drink the tap water). On arrival the look of the grounds and gardens were very nice, but it stoped there. ![]() Naturally we were excited for a “resort vibe” stay. When arriving in the taxi, we were told by the driver that this was the best hotel on the island. And this is definitely a not 5 star experience.ĭuring our stay, we started reading reviews on the hotel, to discover all the comments were consistent with what we experienced. My friend and I have stayed in many hotels ranging from 5 star to pensions. This hotel could have great potential but the level of service, the owners rules and total lack of attention to detail (that a 5 star hotel should have), makes it a 3 star hotel. We were sad to leave and hope our travels bring us back again. It was also the only hotel we could find that had its own private, sandy beach that didn't require crossing a road to get to. The location was perfect for our needs - out of the way but only a 15 minute walk into Naoussa. A gentle breeze soothed us to sleep each night. Our room was clean, we had a view of the sea and our own patio. We especially enjoyed breakfast at sunrise on the patio next to the pool :)Īll the staff were extremely attentive to our needs abut not overbearing - a perfect combination. The grounds were beautiful and immaculately maintained, our meals were delicious and the food was abundant. The staff spoke excellent English and were a wonderful resource during our stay for attractions and arranging a car rental that was brought right to our hotel at no charge. Our bags were handled by the staff while we were given a refreshing beverage upon check-in. When we arrived we were treated like royalty. We stayed towards the end of the season (late September) to avoid the typical summertime crowds.
